MAS' Ethiopian Tour

Information Update

All Ethiopian Tour Participants and those interested in learning more about our tour are invited to a most special afternoon at Millennium Arts Salon.  We have the honor of being hosted by Ms. Miniabiyi Ford, a dual national, and Executive Director of the Mignon Lorraine Innis Ford Foundation, who will lead the information session.  In addition, there is a special treat!...a Coffee Ceremony will be conducted to open our session at 4:00.  Our event will close promptly at 6:00 in favor of other events our participants have expressed interest in attending.   Your visa applications and medical information will be available.  Please do come.

Ms. Ford will provide us with all the necessary information to help us optimize our trip: the tips and tricks of traveling in Addis Ababa and throughout the country.  She will guide us to the special features of the high festival of Timket, shopping for those special and unusual items in the giant Merkato, appropriate conduct at a coffee ceremony, what to see in Lalibella and Gondar, what to wear, how to dress, what gifts to take and to get.  So many, many things...

In addition, other partners to our tour will explain their interests, and what we can expect on the other side when we arrive.

Amongst the many activities that were not published in your itinerary is a special greeting by officials of both governmental, academic and international import, and, to mark our parting Addis on January 19th on the first leg of the tour, we will have a celebration marking the 1st year anniversary of the Inauguration of the President of the United States.  As you know, our President is a direct, 1st generation descendant of East Africa, and there is much excitement there about this special, American Arts and Culture Group from Washington, Millennium Arts Salon, coming back home.  It will be a most rewarding tour.

Please join us and invite those whom you think might also express interest in going with us.  Please note that our tour operator must have full funds by November 25th, because the airline seats and hotels are filling up for the Festival of Timket.  It will be a great tour, and we will be richly rewarded for the experience.

Should you have any questions, please write to Mel at mel@millenniumartssalon.org or call directly to 202-239-8450; or Agnes Powell at agnesp1@verizon.net or telephone 301-985-3724.

See you on the 7th!

Artfully yours,

Mel and Juanita Hardy
